Who Should You Contact for Student Advising?

Advising requires coordination and collaboration among the various units across the institution that support and/or provide advising services.  The Business Department will utilize a shared organizational model as described below.

• Declared Major Students
• Students who have declared an interest in a particular major, will be assigned to the appropriate faculty member in the department
• Students have the option to request a change of advisor
• Students will meet with their assigned advisor at least one time per semester
• Undecided Students
• Students who are unwilling, unable, or unready to make educational decisions will be assisted by the Business Department but utilizing a college center counselor may be more beneficial to the student.  However, this department will provide the following:
• Help students analyze their situation
• Information about majors
• Information about occupations
• Information on campus resources
• Self information ( personal strengths and interests)
• Help students organize a plan for exploring
• Help students integrate information they have collected
• Support students while they make decisions
• Assist students in developing a action plan
• Encourage future contact
• Once a student has declared a major, a faculty advisor will be assigned based on the option chosen or student request
