Institutional Development Committee Meeting October 2, 2009

Members present: Michelle Bruns, Chris Noordsy, Judy Dawkins (new member), Marcel Bull Bear, Milton Fineran, Steven Potter, Rainey Benson (new member) Loretta Redfeather

Vice-Chairman Michelle Bruns called the meeting to order at 10:37 AM. Marcel Bull Bear gave the opening prayer.

Old Business

Steven Potter moved and Milton Fineran seconded that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion approved unanimously.

Policy Review

Chairman Milton Fineran reported that he had met with the personnel director regarding the comp time policy and that the policy would stand. Milton looked into Policies 92-000, 93-000, 93-001, and stated that the administration has requested that these policies be routed to the center directors for revision and returned to the Policy Review subcommittee, Chris Noordsy confirmed this request. Cliff De Long so moved, Lorretta Redfeather seconded. Motion passed unanimously

Technology

Chairman Cliff De Long reported on student/staff/graduate/BOT/immersion school laptop acquisition. He reported on proposed acquisitions for the new fiscal year.

New Business

Presidential Charge regarding definition of family.

Cliff De Long moved and Steven Potter seconded that Policy 22-010 and 61-200(B)(3) be stricken from policy as they are superseded by Policy 61-240.

Motion passed, 1 abstention.

Vice-Chairperson Michelle Bruns directed the Policy Review subcommittee to review Policy 61-420 and to return with their recommendations for the definitions of family and relative.

Milton Fineran moved and Steven Potter seconded that the word “any” be replaced by the words “the same” in Section A, subpart (5), subpart (a)

(OLD) a. No person/employee shall be hired, promoted or transferred within any

department of the College in which his/her relative is a staff member.

(NEW)  a. No person/employee shall be hired, promoted or transferred within the same 
  department of the College in which his/her relative is a staff member. 
 
Motion was withdrawn by Milton Fineran.

Milton Fineran moved for adjournment and Marcel Bull Bear seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
