Preparations for Graduation are underway. There will be no Baccalaureate
GED Graduation has been moved to Saturday. The will be a dedication of the Multi-Purpose building. The guest speaker was discussed as well as the upcoming staff recognition.
There will be no Baccalaureate as it’s an added expense and there were questions as to why we have one. It was decided that there wouldn’t be one this year. The attendance at this function has also declined in the past few years.

The committee discussed the Personnel Development Procedure of tuition waivers as it applies to full time faculty and adjuncts.
All employees will be granted
tuition cost waivers when no other financial aid is available or when sufficient
financial aid is not available.
Full-time faculty and staff will also be granted reasonable leave time
and travel time to attend courses offered by
Cliff is still working on the upgrade of the lab computers up to Windows 7.

New Business
Student services will be presenting a modification to an existing policy:
Scholarship Policy: Once a student is fully packaged of their financial need has been fully met according to the Oglala Lakota College Cost of Attendance budget, they are ineligible for all OLC scholarships. (with the exception of the Non-Smoking Scholarship, as this is a health incentive.
Questions: How does the GPA affect the freshman as they have no GPA

Math for Elementary Education Mathematics Requirements:
Math 243: Mathematics for Elementary Teachers III
The prerequisite for Math 243 is Mathematics for Elementary Teachers II with a “C” or better and Foundations of Education.
Math 103 is required for Math for Elementary Teachers I, and Math for Elementary Teachers II has the prerequisite for II is I. Math 243 will be replacing Math 134.

Motion to approve the change of Math 323 and Math 333 course numbering to a 200 level. Math 323 will become Math 223, and Math 333 will become Math 233.

Curriculum Change
Math 103 will replace math 134 on the Bachelor of Science degree in K-8 Elementary Education Status sheet, and the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Status Sheet.
Motion to table this curriculum change, clarification is requested from the Early Childhood program as to what math will replace Math 134.
