CORE CURRICULUM (POLICY)

1.	All academic degrees at OLC shall contain the following core curriculum:

2. The core science requirement can be fulfilled from courses designated as:

Education methods classes will not meet the humanities requirement.

5.   Lakota Studies Requirements
      As a tribally chartered college, OLC promotes the specific areas of Lakota history
      and culture as well as the general area of Indian studies.  Every graduate is required 
      to complete several courses from the Lakota Studies curriculum.  In addition all 
      courses at OLC reflect a Lakota perspective.

6.  Freshman Orientation 
	CoSu dropped from core curriculum and offered now as Freshman Orientation. 
	College Success will become equivalent to a 15 contact hour Freshman 
        Orientation. No Tuition or fees will be assessed. *Freshman Orientation will 
        not be part of the core element for a college degree.
    6a. Procedures:
        1. Freshman Orientation will be delivered by Student Services and College 
           Center personnel. 
        2. Student services and College Centers will determine the contenet of 
           Freshman Orientation.
        3. Freshman Orientation is required for all new entering students, who have not 
           completed college course work.
        4. Students who transfer college credits are encouraged, but not required to 
           complete the Freshman Orientation.
