76-550-1 VIDEOTAPING INSTRUCTORS (PROCEDURE) 1. Each instructor may request both the course that she or he wishes to have videotaped and the location at which she or he wishes to be videotaped. Requests should be submitted in writing to the Vice President for Instruction. The Vice President for Instruction will set a deadline for requests and then notify all instructors of the deadline. The Vice President for Instruction will design the schedule for videotaping and is not required to comply with any instructor's request. 2. Each instructor is to be given at least seven days notice concerning the date and time of the videotaping. 3. At least one hour of the class, including the very beginning of the class, is to be videotaped. Whenever possible, an effort should be made to have all the important activities of the class represented on the videotape. It will be helpful if the instructor informs the camera operator concerning the types of activities that will occur during the class. 4. A separate videotape is to be used for each instructor. 5. Only the instructor and her or his department chair or faculty designate will view the videotape, unless the instructor gives permission to others to view it. 6. The instructor's department chair or faculty designate may use the videotape to fill out the college's form that is titled "Observation of Teaching." 7. The instructor has the right to make a copy of the videotape for her or his own use. 8. Each instructor's videotape is to be stored and maintained by the college until the next time that the instructor is videotaped, at which time the videotape will be erased and reused for the new videotaping. 9. When an instructor leaves the college, the instructor may take the videotape with her of him. If the instructor does not pick up the videotape, then the college will erase it.
