Rules and Requirements: Word art must be original writing by the participant. It can be in essay form or poetry. Word art must be displayed in a creative way either through adding pictures, calligraphy with pictures, sewn on fabric such as in a tapestry, painted on items...etc., 3-D writing art is accepted. Please give time to the exhibitors to let them know your needs and size requirements. Please consider that we may have many applicants and need to consider space. Not to be smaller than 11 X 14 if wall art. Must be legible, creatively written (such as font choice, etc.). Not liable for issues with transport, etc., please provide proper hanging and set-up equipment. At He Sapa and many other exhibit spaces, no permanent hangers will be allowed, so please consider weight, when choosing a non-permanent hanger. Time: Set-up is tentatively scheduled for May 11th through the 12th., With Judging happening from the 13th to 14th. Awards will given in an Award show and presentation on Friday, May 15th, 2009. Exhibit: After judging, key pieces will be distributed throughout the Rapid City area, such as the Dahl, the Public Library, He Sapa and area businesses that have provided donations. Also, Piya Wiconi Library, area participating high schools, and Pahin Sinte College Center. Work is still being done to see if the exhibit can also travel throughout the state and beyond. Awards: Their will be several awards given from overall best of show, 1st place prizes, second and third, most creative, cultural award and many honorable mentions. Some scholarships as well as many other prizes available.

Anthology: A student anthology will be created with pictures of all word art presented in the Writer’s Gallery.
Please come back for more information and purchase of the anthology.
A copy will be provided to all centers and participating high schools and main libraries.
