The above data charts developed by Patrica Wieland, Sr. Ag. Research Technician under the direction of Diane Rickerl, both from South Dakota State University Plant Science Department in the College of Agriculture during joint USDA research projects. The data can be utilized to estimate forage production within those locations. Column 1 tells the location of the slope where samples of range plants were taken in mid-July (which is about the end of most range forage growing season). Column 2 is the weight of the sample on a dry mater base. Column 3 converts the sample to a production per hectare of land. The last two column deal with the fiber content of the samples.
