President’s Office (Tom Shortbull)___ As I mentioned at the last All Staff meeting, there will be a Wopila Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Piya Wiconi to give thanks for making it through another successful year at OLC. This year is an especially important time to give thanks as we were able to overcome a number of major challenges to our College. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Pow Wow grounds.(If there is inclement weather, we will move the ceremony to the Multi-purpose building) Wilmer Mesteth will conduct the Wopila Ceremony. The noon meal provided by the College will be a traditional meal of bapa soup, taniga soup, wojapi, and fried bread. It would be appreciated if any staff or faculty who would like to help with the meal bring additional fry bread, wojapi, meat soup, and any other traditional meal. Education (Thomas Raymond)___Students planning to do their student teaching next fall or in the Spring of 2015 need to be aware that the deadline date for the Spring Semester of 2014-2015 is September 25, 2014. Incomplete Applications or Applications submitted after the due date WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

The category sheet is posted by the Business Office at Piya Wiconi. If you select your category to donate to you still have time for payroll deduction, a little bit taken directly out of your check. So, stop by Piya Wiconi and select which category you would like to sponsor, the payroll deduction forms are right there with the category sheet…… Each category is ranging from $500 down to $40 or you can give any amount even if it is only $5 or $10. Getting more knowledge on Lakota Culture. next off with Kevin Locke, a talented man that shows hoop dancing, story telling and Lakota ways. After that we will have the Honoring of WW2 Veterans that was held in Wambli. Next up the BJ Weston memorial basketball tournaments with the last epic game -- hotshots vs Thorpes. Coming in after that is the Black Hills pow-wow contest # 1. An last coming in is Wilmer’s night dance. A great event for the whole family to enjoy. It will take you on through the night with dancing and story telling.
