Buffalo Harvest
The buffalo is looked upon with great respect by the Lakota. Through the ages it has sustained the Lakota people. They used every part of the animal and none was wasted. The Lakota used the buffalo for food, shelter, and clothes they wore. When the white man came they tried to exterminate the Indian by killing all the buffalo. It almost worked but a few survived.
Today huge herds roam again both on and off reservations. That is how it is to be.

Wildlife and Buffalo Preserve
Richard Sherman is a Environmental Wildlife Biologist. He is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Nation. Through most of his life he has protected the lands of the Lakota. Using his vast knowledge of the Mother Earth’s gifts he makes us aware of the ego systems that must be protected and preserved.
You can find him most days giving people field trips into the wilderness and telling them how to protect the gifts that were given to us by the creator.
