Laptop & Hotspot Program

The Laptop and Hotspot program is a service provided by Oglala Lakota College to aid students who demonstrate a financial need, and would not otherwise be capable of continuing their college education without access to a laptop or internet services.

****Students who are Max Pell to Degree, Max LEU, Financial Aid Suspension Status, Financial Aid Warning Status, or a Graduate, are eligible to apply for the laptop & hotspot program, as this is a needs-based program for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Laptop Program Overview

Criteria is as follows for students who would like to apply for the laptop program:

  • Student must be enrolled in 3 or more credit hours to apply for a laptop
  • Student must be degree-seeking
  • Student must have a completed FAFSA on file, and demonstrate a financial need based on their Cost of Attendance less resources, as determine by the Financial Aid Department.

Students can be found ineligible for the laptop program under the following circumstances:

  • Non-degree seeking Student
  • Re-certification Student
  • Early Entry Student
  • Incomplete FAFSA on File with Financial Aid Department
  • Student does not demonstrate a financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Department
  • Student may also be ineligible for a laptop, if they received a laptop in the past 3 years, as determine by the Enrollment Department.

Hotspot Program Overview

Criteria is as follows for students who would like to apply for the hotspot program:

  • Student must be enrolled in 3 or more credit hours to apply for a hotspot
  • Student must be enrolled in 3 or more credit hours in a Long-Distance Learning course(s) to apply for a Hotspot. (i.e. Zoom, Moodle, or Cloud based course)
  • Student must be degree-seeking
  • Student must have a completed FAFSA on file, and demonstrate a financial need based on their Cost of Attendance less resources, as determine by the Financial Aid Department.

Students can be found ineligible for the hotspot program under the following circumstances:

  • Non-degree seeking Student
  • Re-certification Student
  • Early Entry Student
  • Incomplete FAFSA on File with Financial Aid Department
  • Student does not demonstrate a financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Department

If you are determined to be eligible, you will need to contact your respective center to complete a Laptop and/or Hotspot agreement, prior to your device being administered to you.
